Island Hotels See Record Sales

Following the Covid-19 Pandemic which saw the hospitality industry grind to a halt, many owners and operators have been working hard to revive pre-pandemic business levels, with others having used the time to reflect and make the decision to sell their hotel business.

At Graham + Sibbald, our established UK team of Hotel + Leisure Agents have seen a wide variety of hotels and leisure premises come on to the market and sell quickly, particularly across the Scottish Isles where buyer activity is booming.

Only mid-way through 2022 and the Graham + Sibbald team have sold a record number of Island Hotels including the following notable sales of the Isle of Jura Hotel, Castlebay Hotel, Polochar Inn, Corrie Inn and Colonsay Hotel.

Peter Seymour, Director of Hotel + Leisure at Graham + Sibbald, commented, “We’re seeing an unusually positive number of island hotels having sold recently, with shorter than average marketing periods with values and pricing expectations being met.”

“There has been an influx of buyers, both local and international, looking to invest in hotels across Scotland which is really great to see, and that I personally hope will continue for the remainder of the year in respect of the hotels we currently have on the market.”

In addition, the team have also seen great success in rural and West Coast Scotland with recent sales including the Plockton Inn, Killin Hotel, Creagan Inn and the notable McMillan Hotel Group sale in June of this year.

Recognised as one of the leaders in this field across the UK, the team work across a range of business types and sectors, but have particular expertise in the Hotel, Licensed and Leisure sector. As a result, Graham + Sibbald are retained by many of the UK’s leading hospitality and leisure groups to manage the sales and disposal of their business portfolios.
