With over 50 professional staff in employment within the Technical Services team comprising Architects, Building Surveyors, Quantity Surveyors and Project Managers across their office networks, Graham + Sibbald are continuing to expand their offering of services and locations across the UK.
As part of this expansion, Graham + Sibbald have announced that Neil MacFarlane will take the new position of UK Head of Technical Services and Andrew Thomson will take the position of Head of Glasgow Building Surveying.
Neil is a Chartered Building Surveyor with over 32 years’ experience in private practice. He studied Building Surveying at Glasgow College of Building + Printing and started working with Graham + Sibbald in 1999 where he became an Associate in 2007, before being promoted to Partner in 2013.
Specialising in Project Management, Construction Monitoring, Contract Administration of Refurbishment Projects, Neil also regularly undertakes Dilapidations Surveys and Negotiations, Building Surveys of commercial, industrial and residential properties, defect analysis, Reinstatement Valuations and Stock Condition Surveys for clients across the UK.
Neil commented, “I’m excited at the challenge to lead the continued growth and expansion of our Technical Services team throughout our network of offices in the UK. Working with our Regional Partners and Directors, we will strive to deliver expanding on our high quality and diverse services to our existing and new locations, in order to exceed the expectations of our extensive local and national client base.”
Andrew is a Chartered Surveyor with over 18 years’ Building Surveying experience. He studied Building Surveying at Glasgow Caledonian University, graduating in 2004 and started working with Graham + Sibbald in 2012.
He is responsible for Contract Administration of various repair and refurbishment projects from inception through to completion, including analysis of client requirements, specification and design, procurement, full project management and cost control. Andrew manages survey teams inspecting several clients nationwide property portfolios. Andrew regularly undertakes detailed building inspections of commercial, industrial and residential properties and is involved in preparation and negotiation of dilapidation claims on behalf of both the landlord and the tenant.
Andrew commented, “Activity within the Building Surveying team across the UK has been strong but in the West of Scotland we have seen particularly high demand for our services. There are some great projects we’ve been involved in and more in the pipeline – having seen great success of late across various tenders. I’m looking forward to seeing what is next as we continue to reach new and exciting milestones across the business.”
This new structure comes in light of the retirement of David Ross, Chartered Building Surveyor, who has been with Graham + Sibbald for more than 35 years. David has been a dedicated and committed member of the Building Surveying and wider Technical Services team, paving the way for all those who now follow in his footsteps.
