Graham + Sibbald welcome their first Graduate Apprentice, Eve Mitchell, to their Glasgow Building Surveying department.
Eve is the first Graduate Apprentice that the firm has taken on following the introduction of their GA Programme, which offers an alternative route towards a career in Surveying. Whether you are a School leaver or looking for a career change, a Graduate Apprenticeship with Graham + Sibbald offers the training, experience and support you need.
Working in Partnership with Edinburgh Napier University, Eve was accepted on to the four-year Graduate Apprenticeship BSc (Hons) Construction and the Built Environment (Building Surveying) course. This consists of distance learning via an online platform but includes set block release periods three times per annum.
Rhona Smith, Employer Liaison & Student Recruitment Manager at Napier, said: “Graduate Apprenticeships are a fantastic way for employees to gain practical experience and academic knowledge, whilst gaining an internationally recognised qualification through combining work-based learning and university attendance. Feedback from apprentices like Eve, and employers, has been fantastic and we look forward to our continued partnership with Graham & Sibbald this year.”
David Ross, Partner at Graham + Sibbald, said: “We are delighted to have Eve join our Building Surveying department. Her enthusiasm and willingness to learn is fantastic to see, alongside her helpful and positive attitude. Eve is settling in well and we look forward to guiding and supporting her on her journey to becoming a Graduate Surveyor.”
Graham + Sibbald are committed to the recruitment, support, development and retention of young people within the business. They were recently recognised for their efforts and received a Silver Investors in Young People (IIYP) accreditation.
Eve Mitchell, Graduate Apprentice at Graham + Sibbald, said: “I’m excited to be starting my Graduate Apprenticeship journey with G+S, especially with me being the first one! They previously had a School Leaver Programme which was limited to 16-18 year olds, but the GA is much more inclusive and provides greater opportunities. Being able to work while studying allows me the best of both worlds and the team have all been extremely welcoming and supportive. It’s great to see that the firm have been given a good practice award by the IIYP as this gives me even more confidence in my choice to join Graham + Sibbald.”
Graham + Sibbald are now accepting applications for their 2019 Graduate Apprenticeship Programme. Closing date 30/04/2019.
