Rating Proposals

We are experts at Rating Valuation on all types of commercial property having dealt with an average of 5,000 appeals at each of the last rates revaluations. We can ensure that your properties’ rateable value is accurate, your rates liability is minimised and that you are paying the correct amount in rates.

Graham + Sibbald have been party to consultation on the new ‘Proposals’ procedure and required content. The purpose of such a complex system is clearly to reduce the overall number of ‘Appeals/Proposals’ lodged. It will be extremely difficult for a ratepayer to prepare such a detailed document and ensure it is accepted by the Assessor. We can assist with ensuring the legislative requirements are met and subsequent negotiations ensure the value is fair and reasonable in comparison with similar properties.

Rating Consultancy

Vacant Property Rates Relief

You can apply for empty property relief if your commercial property is unoccupied and unfurnished. We can advise you on whether you are eligible for this relief and how much relief you may be due. We can then help you make your claim.

Financial Management

We understand that running a business can be costly so we are here to help. Our financial management service includes an audit of your annual rates bill to identify potential savings opportunities and check the invoicing from Councils.

Water + Sewerage Charges

We work with independent consultants to provide expert advice on the charges that should be paid for water and sewerage services delivered to commercial property. We can therefore provide you with a definitive figure of what you should pay. If we think that the charges that you are currently paying are not correct, we can negotiate on your behalf.

Assessor Information Notice

An Assessor Information Notice (AIN) replaces the questionnaires previously issued by the Assessor to gather the information required to produce the Valuation Roll. You have 28 days to complete and return the AIN or a fine can be issued. Any inaccuracies or missing information may also result in a fine. Contact us today for assistance with your AIN.
